Environmental Health Officer � Food Safety Location: Lewisham Council Rate: �40��45 per hour

About the Role

Lewisham Council is seeking experienced and motivated Environmental Health Officers to join our Food Safety team. You will play a key role in protecting public health by delivering a programme of proactive and reactive food hygiene inspections, primarily in Category C/ D and unrated premises. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the safety and wellbeing of our diverse community, working within a supportive and professional team. Key Responsibilities

Conduct food hygiene inspections in line with the Food Law Code of Practice. Provide expert advice and education to businesses and residents. Maintain accurate records of inspections.

About You To be successful in this role, you must have: At least 2 years of recent experience in a UK local authority conducting food hygiene inspections. EHRB registration (or equivalent). Demonstrated competency under the Food Law Code of Practice. A minimum of 20 hours CPD over the past 2 years. You must be qualified to carry out food standards inspections. You will be confident working independently, making critical decisions, and managing a varied caseload. Strong communication and enforcement skills are essential.
