Who You Are
We are seeking a highly experienced Planning Enforcement Officer to join our team and provide short-term support with a focus on progressing and resolving planning enforcement cases. This role is designed for a senior level practitioner with substantial experience in managing complex enforcement cases independently.
What the job involves
The role involves managing a personal caseload of planning enforcement cases, including complex and sensitive issues. It requires conducting site inspections, gathering evidence, and exercising professional judgement on expediency and proportionality. You will prepare enforcement reports, notices, and appeal documentation, and support formal enforcement actions including handling appeals, hearings, or inquiries. You will also provide senior professional advice to other team members on complex situations. The job includes maintaining accurate case records using the Council’s case management systems. The role is delivery-focused and does not include formal line management or service development responsibilities.
Skills
- Significant experience in planning enforcement
- Strong knowledge of planning legislation, permitted development, and enforcement procedures
- Experience with complex enforcement cases and formal documentation
- Confidence in making and defending enforcement decisions
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, time-constrained role
