Who You Are

You are a detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Freedom of Information Act. Ideally, you have experience working in the public sector, but this is not a requirement. You possess strong interpersonal skills, enabling you to effectively collaborate with Council officers and communicate with the public. You are organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks under pressure to meet statutory deadlines.

What the Job Involves

As an Access to Records Officer, you will provide information to the public in response to Subject Access Requests (SARs) and Freedom of Information Requests (FOIRs) in compliance with FOIA/EIR and DPA legislation. You will update SAR and FOI/EIR cases on the Council's Case Management System and apply relevant exemptions when preparing documents for disclosure. Your role involves collaborating with Council services to ensure quality responses within statutory response time limits and serving as the first contact point for public inquiries regarding SAR and FOI/EIR matters. You will organize your workload to meet strict deadlines, keep your knowledge of relevant legislation up to date, and build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
